Funny young people, in tears, scratching themselves, sleeping standing like zombies, this is how the effects of this new drug are described. A cheap and very potent drug, hence its name “bulge”. The authorities are therefore sounding the alarm and announcing the establishment of a Commission to better understand and combat this phenomenon.
This drug is above all very toxic, warns Dr. Yves Bunkulu, Congolese Minister of Youth: “It is a drug that is extracted from the residues in the exhaust pipes that consists of carbon monoxides, nitrogen monoids and sulfur oxide, but also nutrilin. The ingredient is not good for health. “
An accident for public health. This minister discussed it with his colleague from the Ministry of Health. Together, they decided to start a study to find out the exact composition of this drug and find a suitable answer.
“In any case, it is a question that concerns us. We will present the various proposals and measures to the government to counter the consumption of this drug. The message I have to send to young people is already to stop the consumption of this type of medicine “, explains Dr Yves Bunkulu.
The consequences are unpredictable for society, warns Patrice Milambo, director of the National Program on Drugs and Drugs (PNLCT): “It really is an emergency, a public health disaster. We will have juvenile delinquency that will increase, rape, bandits and sexual violence. It is a complicated phenomenon. ”
Understanding the reasons for the consumption of this new drug Patrice Milambo wants to understand what those who consume the bomb are looking for: “Drugs are not taken that way, there are many reasons to take it. There are those who take it to sleep outside so as not to feel the cold, kill, hurt. All these parameters we will go into more depth after the proof of the study. ”
According to the police, the suppliers of this medicine are usually mechanics, who act without the knowledge of the owners of the vehicles on which these components are collected.
Authorities are also concerned about the health consequences of another drug called “muvuke”, a plant consumed by inhalation in northern Kivu in the eastern DRC.
