Gabon has ended an eight-month suspension of social media, imposed in February amid fears that online content was stoking conflict and widening divisions. The restrictions came less than a year after President Brice Oligui Nguema’s election, as the country faced a wave of social unrest.
The opposition condemned the suspension as an abuse of power.
