Thousands of migrants have departed South Africa after targeted attacks and mounting pressure from anti-migrant groups calling for undocumented migrants to leave.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has extended its emergency operation in Zimbabwe beyond Beitbridge to Nyamapanda, assisting Malawians returning home through the border crossing. At the site, the organisation has established a temporary reception centre offering food, water, sanitation, overnight accommodation, and medical and psychological support for people arriving exhausted and traumatised.

MSF is also delivering health and humanitarian assistance in South Africa, including in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape, as well as in border towns such as Musina and Beitbridge.
