Bid made for Reggie Cannon

Nottingham Forest have made an official bid for US international right-back Back Reggie Cannon, 90min understand, with the defender currently conducting his trade in Portugal with Boavista.

The 23-year-old is a product of the famous FC Dallas Academy, which is also responsible for the development of, among others, Juventus star Weston McKennie, Roma’s Bryan Reynolds and Chris Richards from Bayern Munich.

Cannon made 73 appearances for the Texas side between 2017 and 2020. He then moved to Portugal with Boavista 2020 for a reported fee of $ 3.5 million and made 32 appearances for the club last season – their first back in the top flight.

The defender was also part of Gregg Berhalter’s USMNT squad that won the Nations League and Gold Cup titles at international level this summer. So far, Cannon has earned 22 senior caps for Stars and Stripes and done so once.

There has been speculation about a possible move to England for Cannon this summer. A source close to the situation has confirmed for 90 minutes that Nottingham Forest have placed a bid for an unknown number for the player, while another unnamed championship club remains in contact and weighs its own offer for Cannon.

Cannon is still in training with Boavista, who have taken three points from their first two Liga NOS matches.
