The coastal metropolis of Mananjary in Madagascar was largely destroyed after the tropical cyclone Batsirai, help staff stated on Saturday, when extra aids arrived by airplane.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) stated in an announcement that their workforce had visited town and located it “largely destroyed”.
“The hospital is no longer functioning, five health centers have been completely destroyed in the area and the roofs of 35 other structures have been blown off. The hospital patients have been evacuated to a clinic that has been opened urgently to receive them,” stated MSF Joaquin Noterdaeme.
“The condition of the roads is getting worse as we walk, and many of them are still being cleared,” he stated.
“Roads are unstable, sometimes with a deep hole under the asphalt, and can collapse at any time.”
