MPS is preparing for its first congress since then
Preparations for the 10th Extraordinary Congress of the Patriotic Salvation Movement, the party of late President Idriss Deby Itno, are stirring. He is called in the absence of the Secretary-General and risks leaving behind many dignitaries from the previous regime and could lead to a renewal of the political class.
as reported from Ndjamena,Madjiasra Nako
The 10th Extraordinary Congress scheduled for June 12-13 will aim to “revitalize” Patriotic Salvation Movement (MPS). He was called in by a resolution signed by the party’s deputy general secretary, while another deputy general secretary must be chairman of the organizing committee where we find the big names of the party ‘Idriss Deby.
Absence of the Secretary-General
Internally, a source close to the current Secretary-General indicates that not everyone approves of the convening of this extraordinary congress because it was done without major stakeholders. Mahamat ZenBada is currently abroad for treatment. According to the party’s texts, he is the only one who has the right to convene an extra congress.
In-depth renewal
Other members of the MPS recall that the party made major decisions two years ago, such as giving the founding president the opportunity to elect members of the political bureau himself. But the founding president is no more. From now on, the MPS, orphaned by Idriss Deby, must learn to deal with itself as a political party and not in an autocratic way. Previous figures do not have a good picture and this congress should allow for an in-depth renewal, indicates one of the organizers of the extraordinary congress.
