Liverpool News: Robertson signs new contract

Liverpool have confirmed that left-back Andy Robertson has signed a new contract to join the club until 2026.

The Reds have had a mission to tie the future for their most important players in recent weeks, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Fabinho and Virgil van Dijk all writing papers this summer.

Robertson’s future had not been an issue – his previous contract expired in 2024 – but Liverpool were keen to reward him for his outstanding form in recent years and have managed to tie him to a new five-year contract.

“Of course when the negotiations started and it looked like my future would be here longer than it was, then I think it’s no secret that I’m happy at this club,” Robertson told Liverpoolfc.com.

“I want to stay in this club as long as possible and to extend my stay it is always a happy time for me, for my family. We live here, we love everything about this football club and I’m glad the journey continues. ”

Since joining Hull City in 2017, Robertson has been an important part of Liverpool’s backline. He finishes 200 games for the club and his assist fights with right-back and partner-in-crime Trent Alexander-Arnold have been legendary things.

“When you sign for a massive club, I still remember the day as if it were yesterday when I wrote here and obviously you have ambitions to become a regular player for Liverpool, to win trophies for this club, to do anything but the way it has. went excellent, Robertson continued.

“But since the start of my career, I have always been one to look forward to: it is before, it is something I can sit down with the people who want to listen to me when I have put on my boots and retired. and I can tell them all the stories we’ve already done.

“But I really am one, and I know that a lot of people at this training ground right now are people to look forward to and people [who want] to create more history, more stories. Hopefully people get tired of me when I retire and I can sit for hours and hours and tell all the stories!

“They are certainly building up but I want to do more and obviously hopefully start this season. We want to achieve more, we hope to give more trophies, more happiness to this club.

“The only way to do that is to work hard and have the same application that we have been doing since day one.”
