Phil Foden reveals that England teammates can copy hairstyles

Manchester City starlet Phil Foden has revealed that the rest of his England team-mates have promised to follow his lead and rock a pale blonde hairstyle if they win Euro 2020.

The foot raised more than a few eyebrows when he seemed to draw inspiration from Paul Gascoigne’s iconic look from Euro 1996 and started a trend that has also seen Granit Xhaka pull out the hair color for this summer’s tournament.

At the moment, none of Foden’s teammates in England have followed suit, but the City kid has revealed that the three lions have all agreed to channel their inner Gazza and dye their hair if they can go all the way to Euro 2020.

“You know what I said; if we win it I told the team that they had to get the same hairstyle as me! “he told talkSPORT.” They all agreed so hopefully, if we win it you will see everyone with the same hairstyle.

“I think Romania did not do it where they all had the same hairstyle, so if we won it I would make everyone have the same hairstyle.”

Romania actually followed in Gascoigne’s footsteps at the 1998 World Cup, where all players brought out the blonde hair color as part of a game with manager Anghel Iordanescu, who promised to shave his head if his side beat both Colombia and England.

Romania’s players increased the ante by promising to dye their hair if they won the two matches, and 180 minutes of football later they shook all the pale blonde hair that was so badly done that half of the squad was left with burns on their scalp.

The pressure on hair dye worked for Romania in 1998, and 23 years later England hope it will provide the kind of oomph needed after their abominable display in the 0-0 draw against Scotland.

The Three Lions may be just a few weeks away from a team full of Gascoigne wannabes, but Foden actually admitted that the inspiration for this cut was not really Gazza, but City teammate Sergio Aguero.

“It was my own thing and then I saw people turn it into something else and I just jumped at what everyone else was going to do,” Foden said.

“I think Razza [Raheem Sterling] told you that I talked to him about Sergio having the same type of hair and that I liked it that way, I was me, I decided to change it and called the hairdresser to come and do this and I have ever liked it since. I’ve made it even easier. I had another hairstyle the other day to make it easier. ”
