Lyons Houssem Aouar goes AWOL when he presses to move away

Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has failed to report back to the club for training during the season amid rumors that he is pushing to move away.

The Frenchman was expected to return from his summer break on July 1, but after failing to attend his team’s first meeting before the season, he has not yet watched almost a week.

Following the news, Lyon claimed that Aouar’s absence was due to his illness, but Get French Football News reports that the midfielder wants to leave and that is why he has not returned.

The French international is said to be disappointed that the club failed to retain the services of Talisman Talphis Depay, who recently joined Barcelona on a free transfer, but in truth it seems they have very little to say on the matter.

Rumors of Aouar’s future have been circulating for some time, with Arsenal just one of the clubs credited with interest in him last summer. But his desire to play Champions League football saw any potential transfer to north London ruined.

Both Juventus, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with a move for Aouar, but with two years left on his contract with Lyon, the Ligue 1 kit is not under any real pressure to cut the tie with the youngster.

After once again failing to qualify for the Champions League, Lyon are seriously threatened with losing some of their big players.

Moussa Dembele is another who may soon be on his way to the front door after reports emerged that he wanted to leave the club, although the former Celtic man has since taken to social media to deny the allegations.

Dembele spent the second half of last season on loan at La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, but still did not make a real impression on the first team after failing to score in any of his seven matches in all competitions.
