Bayern transfer news: Robert Lewandowski future update

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has stated that striker Robert Lewandowski will not leave the club this summer and expects the Polish superstar to remain at the Allianz Arena for the rest of his contract – at least.

Lewandowski has been the best striker in the world in recent years and has scored 294 goals in 329 games since joining Bayern as a free agent in 2014. The record has included a staggering 103 goals in just 87 games in the last two seasons.

The 32-year-old has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester City in recent weeks, with both Premier League clubs on the market for a new striker this summer. But Hainer says Bayern do not intend to let the former Borussia Dortmund star leave.

“First of all, in my opinion, Lewandowski is the best striker in the world. We are so happy that we have him in our team, says Hainer to Goal.

“He still has two more years on his contract. He will definitely play those with Bayern Munch. I already said that a few weeks ago – I could imagine that he stayed with us even longer. He will fulfill his contract. He will definitely play the next two seasons here in Bayern Munich. ”

Bayern have been linked with Dortmund prodigy Erling Haaland as a potential replacement for Lewandowski, but Hainer has insisted the reigning Bundesliga champions will only start looking for a successor when it is known he will leave the club.

Haaland will be available at a fixed price of 75 million euros next summer when his release clause becomes active, although there will be fierce competition for the Norwegians’ signature.

Chelsea and Manchester City are both very interested in Haaland, with Chelsea in particular prepared to offer 175 million euros (150 million pounds) in a final market. However, the player himself joked this week: “I hope they are just rumors, because 175 million euros would be a lot of money for one person.”
