But very quickly people surrounded the field. Stone throws fuse from all sides. About thirty party motorcycles were searched. Neighboring houses looted, according to a director of the UFDG, who laments at least 11 wounded militants. All in a “monotonous” campaign, explains another activist.
“A climate of fear”
“We have not been able to hold a single meeting since the start of the campaign because of the intimidating actions we are victims of,” laments Abdourahmane Diallo, the permanent secretary of the UFDG in Kankan.
Facts disputed by RPG. Officials from President Condé’s party say they are not “aware” of the clashes on Sunday. “Our instruction to our militants is observe calm», Assures Mamby Camara, coordinator of RPG in Kankan.
“Nothing reassuring, however, comments a politician, a member of the local FNDC. These clashes testify to a tense campaign, marked by hate speech, which breeds a climate of fear ”.
