In Madagascar, new arrests in the case of two Frenchmen suspected of carrying out a coup against President Andry Rajoelina. They were arrested on Tuesday, July 20, for “endangering state security” and are still being heard by the criminal squad and have since been joined by other people.

The artist Sareraka was arrested yesterday morning after a search of his home. This is indicated by the government press body and confirmed by a source familiar with the matter, which shows that he was taken into police custody after being interviewed by the criminal brigade.
The artist is close to the President of the Republic. But we do not yet know the connection between Sareraka and this coup attempt.
Senior officers heard
High-ranking officials in the gendarmerie are currently also heard by the police. Authorities have not issued further information on the physical evidence, or on the rest of the judicial inquiry, since the arrest of Paul Rafanoharana and Philippe François a week ago.
In the event of an attack on state security, the duration of police detention is 15 days and can be extended according to the needs of the investigation.
