Operation NISA Takes Down 27 Al-Shabaab Militants in Middle Shabelle

Mogadishu (AX) — In a notable development, the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) announced a significant victory in its battle against terrorism. A meticulously executed twelve-hour operation in the Yaaqle region of Middle Shabelle resulted in the eradication of 27 operatives from the notorious Al-Shabaab. Among those neutralized were senior leaders of the militant group.

“This focused operation successfully removed militants from the Kharijite faction, who had gathered under the auspices of hostile forces from various regions with the malevolent aim of inflicting pain and distress upon the Somali populace,” stated NISA in an official release.

The agency emphasized that everything unfolded as anticipated, leading to the obliteration of combat vehicles and military gear utilized by the group. “The operation concluded successfully,” NISA affirmed, highlighting its crucial role in disrupting Al-Shabaab’s logistical framework and operational capabilities.

Historically, Middle Shabelle has served as a critical battlefield in the fight against Al-Shabaab, which has perpetrated numerous lethal assaults against civilians, government representatives, and security personnel since being expelled from Mogadishu in 2011. With the backing of international allies, the Somali government has been escalating efforts to reclaim territory and undermine the organization’s strongholds.

While NISA hailed this operation as a substantial triumph, they pointed out that the larger struggle against Al-Shabaab and similar extremist factions continues unabated. Ongoing operations are in the pipeline to maintain pressure and sustain the initiative.

Al-Shabaab, a militant group linked to al-Qaida, poses a relentless threat to Somali governance, perpetuating instability that spills over into neighboring areas.
