Theoretically, the presidential and legislative elections are scheduled for the end of February 2022. On that date, the transition must also end. There are those who insist that it be kept on scheduled dates, which is also a requirement of subregional and international institutions, and those who would not oppose an extension of the transition.

There are those who pretend that the presidential election will be held as planned in February 2022. They are already showing their muscle by making land, and by multiplying the political meetings, as if to say that they will go to coal.
In this register we can quote the former Malian Prime Minister Boubou Cissé, or the businessman Mamadou Seydou Coulibaly. The two have no political parties of their own and rely on alliances.
For their part, men from the traditional political class demand a little more determination that the set dates be respected. Former Prime Minister Soumeylou Boubeye Maïga, who also goes out to meet his activists and no longer hides his ambitions, believes, like other politicians, that the country’s salvation is to respect the time required for the transition.
Maize supporters of an extension of the duration of the transition sharpen their weapons. Press releases and meetings follow each other in locations across the country in this direction. Is the military behind these demonstrations? It is in this context that Fare, former Prime Minister Modibo’s party, but still a member of the same political alliance as the current Prime Minister, makes the news. In a joint statement signed with Parena, another political formation in Mali, he demanded that the deadlines be respected and that the election calendar be published.
