Harvey Elliott starts in the Premier League

Liverpool star Harvey Elliott has been named in the Red starting line-up against Burnley, marking a full Premier League debut for the highly-ranked 18-year-old.

Elliott is already the youngest player in Premier League history at the age of 16 and 30 days when he made his competitive debut as a replacement for the former club Fulham in May 2019.

He played twice in the league for Liverpool as a replacement in 2019/20 and has been tipped for a first team role with the club this season after an impressive campaign on loan at Blackburn, where he participated 41 times in the championship.

Elliott got seven minutes off the bench last weekend when Liverpool beat Norwich and replaced Naby Keita in the final stages of the 3-0 win at Carrow Road. Now he gets the opportunity to invest in his claim to a more permanent place by starting before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who misses for personal reasons.

James Milner has dropped out with an injury and will be replaced by returning captain Jordan Henderson.

Kostas Tsimikas retains his place on the left-back, although regular starter Andrew Robertson has already returned to the bench after recovering from an ankle injury ahead of schedule.

Ibrahima Konate continues to wait for a competitive debut in Liverpool, after being named on the bench again behind more senior starters Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip.

Jurgen Klopp has chosen the same three forwards who started against Norwich, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota favored before Roberto Firmino, who starts on the bench despite scoring goals as a substitute against the Canary Islands.
