Newly appointed US envoy arrives in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (AXADLE) – The newly appointed US Ambassador to Somalia Larry André has arrived in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, today.

The plane with delegates from the ambassador and the US embassy in the middle of the morning at Adan Adde International Airport, where they were received by officials from the Somali Foreign Ministry.

André, who has replaced Donald Yamamoto, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, will soon take office.

The US Embassy in Somalia has announced the arrival of the new diplomat.

“We are pleased to announce the arrival of Ambassador Larry André. He is eager to work in partnership with the Somali people and their state and federal governments to advance our common goal of reviving Somalia as a secure, prosperous and democratic nation, “one said tweet from the embassy.

André had served as US Ambassador to Djibout before moving to Somalia. He also served as the US Ambassador to Mauritania.
