Bougane Gueye Dany ordered the withdrawal of his posters

The great press chief and politician was called this Monday, August 23, to the central police station in Dakar. He received a letter from the head of state asking him to remove his advertising posters and urging Senegalese citizens to register on the ballot papers, five months before the municipal and departmental elections in January 2022.

as reported from Dakar, Thea Ollivier

Bougane Gueye Dany, head of the opposition movement Gueum Sa Bopp, takes a stand on the political spectrum a few months before the local elections.

After distributing 200 advertising posters in Dakar with his picture and the name of his party to urge the Senegalese to register on the ballot papers, he was called to the Central Police Station in Dakar on Monday.

There he received a letter from the head of department stating that this “post containing political messages” is a violation of the law on advertising and that it “is likely to create disturbances in public order through vandalized acts.” posters will be removed within 24 hours, that is, before Tuesday, August 24 in the morning.

Bougane Gueye Dany told RFI that he had “read the letter” and that his lawyers “will take appropriate action.” But the head of the media group D-media does not intend to remove these posters, adding that he “still has television and radio” to encourage citizens to register on the ballot papers until 14 September.

The Minister of the Interior, Antoine Diom, advocates through his services that posters to encourage young people to register on the ballot papers can create disturbances in public order through vandalism. (see letter from the head of department) No comment pic.twitter.com/xYwLFJBkHt
