Argentina will play Colombia on Tuesday at the Estadio Nacional de Brasilia Mane Garrincha for a coveted final place in the Copa America.

The South American rivals have a long history and culminated in yet another tough face. Argentina wins 3-0 against Ecuador with goals from Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and superstar Lionel Messi. Argentina’s head coach Lionel Scaloni has a variety of options that go into the match against Colombia. The list boasts Messi and Sergio Aguero, Paris Saint-Germain’s Angel Di Maria and Ajax Nicolas Tagliafico. The team did not report any new injuries, but claimed that Atalanta’s midfielder Cristian Romero could be hesitant.

Messi and Aguero are expected to lead the team to the top after successful performances so far. The Barcelona veteran has scored four goals and four assists in five Copa America matches in 2021. Nicolas Otamendi and German Pezzella will continue to defend their backs as they have made the majority of this tournament.

After a disappointing performance against Uruguay, head coach Reinaldo Rueda can look to shake things up on the pitch. During their quarter-final match, the Atalanta duo Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata took the offensive lead before Miguel Borga went in for Muriel.

Colombia lacked cohesion and power on the front foot but has few options to solve this problem. Defensively, however, David Ospina has been an outstanding player for the majority of the tournament. He is expected to be in goal, with Davinson Sanchez and Yerry Mina in front.

No new injuries have been reported, but Porto midfielder Mateus Uribe and Pachuca midfielder Yairo Moreno are still out.

Argentina: E Martinez; Molina, Pezzella, Otamendi, Acuna; Paredes, De Paul, Lo Celso; Messi, Aguero, L Martinez

Colombia: Ospina; Munoz, Mina, Sanchez, Tesillo; Cuadrado, Barrios, Cuellar, Diaz; Zapata, Borja

The South American rivals have met a total of 40 times. Argentina has the clear advantage with 23 wins, nine defeats and eight draws in total. The two have met twice before in the Copa America semifinals, where Colombia loses both matches.

In addition to the tournament, Colombia and Argentina met earlier this year, which resulted in a 2-2 draw. Colombia maintained their unbeaten record in their last three competitive matches against Argentina, winning twice and drawing one.

Given their Copa America trip, Argentina enters the match as clear favorites to win a coveted final place. Colombia lacks their offensive power due to injuries, while Argentina boasts Messi and Aguero. Goals can fall from both ends, but in the end Argentina is expected to win.

Prediction: 3-1
