It is clear that Crystal Palace have parted ways with at least 18 million pounds to get the 21-year-old midfielder Marc Guehi from Chelsea.

Guehi was one of the excellent defenders in the championship last season with Swansea City, and many Chelsea fans hoped he would get a shot in the Blues’ first team this year. But a reluctance to take out another loan caused him to be permanently delivered to Crystal Palace.

Initially, all that was known about the deal was that Chelsea had negotiated a sale clause for the youngster and to secure the right to match any future bids, with the transfer fee kept out of the limelight.

But that has now changed as both the Daily Mail and Adam Newson State Palace have agreed to pay £ 18m to land Guehi – money that will go to the pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

“It was a big decision for me [to make a permanent move] because I’ve been in Chelsea for so long since I was seven years old, “Guehi told the Palace’s official website. Emotionally, it was hard after being in a place for so long and knowing that you will not be there.

“Being at Chelsea really helped me in my development, got better and helped me excel.

“I said goodbye to everyone, the coaches who trained me since I was young and the people who helped me get to this stage. I am extremely grateful for their help.”

Guehi’s departure came on the same day it was confirmed that 19-year-old striker Armando Broja has signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

Broja scored ten goals in the Eredivisie with Vitesse last season, making him the highest-scoring teenager in Europe’s top ten leagues, and the Blues have managed to secure their future until at least 2026.
