Senegal beats Brazil and goes to the semifinals

For the first time in its history, the Senegalese qualified for the last four of the FIFA World Cup by beating Brazil in the quarter-finals, after extra time, on Thursday, August 26 in Moscow (5-4).

Historic day for the lions. After two eliminations in a row in the quarterfinals of the Beach Soccer World Cup, four in total, the Senegalese will finally be invited to the last four.

After dominating Portugal, defending champions, during the group stage, Africa’s six – time champions achieved a new achievement by eliminating the competition’s most sacred team (14), after a crazy match and being extended.

Senegalese rebound: Led 3-1 at the end of the second period, the Lions managed to equalize in the third act thanks to Raoul Mendy and Mandione Diagne. In overtime, less than two minutes from the end, the two goal scorers repeated in quick succession to give each a double, before narrowing Brazil’s gap in the final seconds (5-4).

Selection removed, the men of Oumar Sylla will face this Saturday for their first semifinal, the winner of the meeting between Tahiti and Japan.
