At the inauguration, Barre said the new facility would give the ministry stronger institutional backing and better support its work as the government moves to expand access to basic services.
“This modern building, equipped to meet the needs of government agencies, is part of the government’s plan to enhance efficiency and public service delivery,” he said.
The prime minister also said the government plans to supply free electricity to public institutions, including health and education facilities and government offices. He added that officials are working to regulate and expand water supply systems in more than 20 cities across the country.
Barre said changing global economic conditions have made self-sufficiency a priority for Somalia, especially in essential sectors such as electricity and water, and stressed the need for greater domestic production and coordinated planning.
The new headquarters reflects the government’s broader effort to rebuild state institutions and improve service delivery after years of conflict, as Somalia works to strengthen governance and meet rising demand for reliable utilities.
