Xavi embraces new chapter after parting ways with Barca without regrets

Xavi expressed his departure from Barcelona without any regrets, resigning as head coach. He plans to remain a loyal fan of the team once he leaves.

He initially announced his intention to leave Barca at the season’s end. But events led him to prolong his tenure, ultimately ending with Club President Joan Laporta confirming his exit.

Prior to Barcelona’s final LaLiga match against Sevilla, Xavi was officially declared to be parting ways with the club. Last season, he led them to a LaLiga victory but fell short this time around.

Despite his efforts, the season ended without any trophies, with Barcelona being eliminated in the Champions League and Copa del Rey at the quarter-final stage. Xavi has won 89 of 142 games in charge since November 2021.

In his departing statement, Xavi expressed pride in his accomplishments with the club. He mentioned Laporta’s decision to make a change in direction, which he acknowledges and respects.

He believed in the team’s potential but understands the need for a new direction. Xavi wished Laporta luck and declared his future support for the team as a dedicated fan.

The club is expected to name Hansi Flick, the former Bayern Munich and Germany coach, as Xavi’s successor soon.
