harmonization paintings on assessments in WAEMU

The Heads of State of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) decide on the harmonization of the costs of Covid-19 tests and the recognition of the tests carried out by the laboratories authorized to do so in their various countries. The validity of the tests is now five days for travelers in the WAEMU space from the day of sampling.

The Heads of State of the Member States of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) have decided to harmonize the costs of Covid-19 screening tests for all travelers in their common area. From May 2021, the test will cost 25,000 CFA francs for air travelers. The tests are valid for five days from the date the sample is taken on departure and departure for airports in the WAEMU area.

Reopening of progressive borders

Burkina Faso, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Niger and Mali are committed to mutual recognition of the results of Covid tests by authorized laboratories in their countries.

According to Lassané Kaboré, Burkinabe’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, “the Heads of State have pledged to continue the work of gradually opening up land borders,” which has been closed for a year now. When land borders open, travelers pay 5,000 CFA francs for the Covid-19 test.

For WAEMU’s Heads of State, all these measures are intended to facilitate the movement of people and goods between the various countries.
