On Sunday, Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expats Minister, got together with Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, his Emirati counterpart, in Abu Dhabi.

This gathering also included UAE’s State Minister for African Affairs, Sheikh Shakhbout Bin Nahyan, along with Ambassador Lana Nassiba, the Special Envoy to the EU, and Sherif Eissa, the Egyptian Ambassador.

Abdelatty praised the blossoming relationship between Egypt and the UAE, pointing out how various fields have seen intensified coordination and discussion. He acknowledged the Emirati enthusiasm in bolstering Egypt’s development endeavors, which align with shared interests. Hoping for even greater collaboration, Abdelatty emphasized the potential for increased investment and trade.

“It’s crucial we amplify our political consultations and strategize together,” stressed Abdelatty. He also proposed organizing new meetings for the joint economic committee and the Egyptian-Emirati business forum to foster deeper economic networks.

The ministers exchanged views on the escalating Gaza War. Abdelatty mentioned Egypt’s active communication efforts with relevant parties to prevent further escalation, aiming to maintain regional stability and security.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s unwavering stance on Lebanon, emphasizing collective efforts to avoid embroiling the country in a prolonged conflict with Israel.

The dialogue also touched upon the crisis in Sudan, possible resolutions, Libya’s current affairs, the situation in the Horn of Africa and Somalia, and security concerns in the Red Sea. Preserving national interests and security for the countries bordering the Red Sea requires more united efforts, they noted.
