The two sides meet on Monday in the Romanian capital and Didier Deschamps has some decisions to make on his start XI after a disappointing draw with Hungary and a functional but uninspiring display against the holders.
The world champions have not yet reached their peak in the tournament but still they qualified for the 16 years with relative ease. But if they are to continue and win Euro 2020, they must increase their game to overcome the obstacles that await them in the knockout phase.
Here is the page Deschamps can choose next week’s meeting with the Swiss.

Hugo Lloris (GK) – Persuaded a penalty against Portugal when he came flying from his goal and hit an opposition player. Nevertheless, he is number one and part of Deschamp’s leadership group.
Benjamin Pavard (RB) – Should come back to the side after Jules Kounde had a nightmare when he was asked to record on the right back during the draw with the competition holders.
Raphael Varane (CB) – Performed well below the level we know he can in the last match, but the form is temporary and the class is permanent.
Presnel Kimpembe (CB) – Looked comfortable in the Portugal draw despite his partner’s shaky performances. Uses the ball well and deserves to keep his place.
Leo Dubois (LB) – Lucas Hernandez and Lucas Digne are both out of contention for Monday’s game, giving Deschamps a wide range of headaches. Lyons Dubois has not played a minute in the tournament but can be pushed into the spotlight on the left back.

Paul Pogba (CENTIMETER) – Looks like a much better player when he represents his country. Can share defense passes and a dominant presence in midfield.
N’Golo Kante (CM) – The midfield’s engine room, you can claim that Kante is France’s most important player. Undoubtedly one of the first names on the team magazine.Adrien Rabiot (CM) – Have had a decent tournament so far. He and Kante provide an excellent foundation on which Pogba can draw strings further up the field.

Antoine Griezmann (CF) – Has opened people’s eyes to another side of their game at this tournament. A tireless worker with plenty of quality.
Kylian Mbappe (ST) – We still see the best of Mbappe this summer but he is still incredibly effective. It’s only a matter of time before he explodes into action.
Karim Benzema (ST) – It is fantastic to see Benzema play for the national team again and have done twice against Portugal, he is a man in shape.
