Ex-Wanderer Mohamed Omar Earns Spot on Somalia’s National Team
Mohamed Omar, formerly of Halifax Wanderers, now plays in the USL Championship with San Antonio. He has been called up to represent Somalia, marking a potential start to his national team career at 25.
Omar could debut for Somalia against Mozambique or Botswana in upcoming World Cup qualifiers on June 7 and June 10. Since joining San Antonio this season, he has made eight appearances, including a match against Monterey Bay where he faced former Wanderer Morey Doner.
