Deputy Foreign Minister Hasan Mohamed Ali set out Somalia’s position at an extraordinary ministerial session of the League of Arab States, held by videoconference on Tuesday. The meeting focused on a draft resolution put forward by Bahrain over Iran’s actions and its responsibilities under international law.

Somalia said it stands alongside Arab states in responding to the attacks and firmly denounced Iranian actions it said are undermining regional security. The government also reaffirmed its commitment to international law, the protection of global maritime routes and collective efforts to preserve stability.

Officials stressed that Arab solidarity remains a strategic priority, calling for a coordinated stance to protect national security and defend the rules-based international order.

In the latest escalation, Iran launched missile and drone attacks that targeted several Gulf states, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.

Authorities said the strikes damaged infrastructure, disrupted operations and hit sites linked to the U.S. military presence in the region, heightening concern over broader instability and the security of vital economic and shipping corridors.
