The Center for Research on Chinese Modernization was inaugurated at the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation during a ceremony that brought together senior government officials and diplomats.

Permanent Secretary Hamza Haadow and China’s ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu, led the launch, which officials described as a sign of the two countries’ shared interest in strengthening academic ties and policy research in areas of strategic significance.

The center is intended to promote research, training and discussion on development models, governance and international cooperation, while also helping build Somalia’s capacity in diplomacy and policy analysis.

According to the Ministry, the Diplomatic Institute is central to preparing Somali diplomats and supporting the country’s international engagement through education and professional development.

Officials also said the initiative highlights the long-standing relationship between Somalia and China, as both sides work to expand ties through cooperation in knowledge, development and global affairs.
