Fartaag carried a message from Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, signaling Mogadishu’s push to deepen ties with Burkina Faso and widen cooperation on security matters.

According to Somali officials, the discussions focused on building a joint security framework to confront common threats from terrorism and extremist violence. The two sides also agreed to step up coordination in counterterrorism efforts, military training, and intelligence sharing.

The encounter underscores Somalia’s wider drive to broaden its security partnerships beyond the Horn of Africa as it works to strengthen regional and cross-regional cooperation against militant threats.

Somalia and Burkina Faso both continue to grapple with entrenched security problems linked to armed extremist groups operating inside their borders.

The visit comes amid a period of intensified Somali diplomacy with African partners, part of broader efforts to advance security reforms and support stabilization at home.
