Kenya President and UAE Leader Discuss Trade and Regional Security in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI — Kenyan President William Ruto and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, using the high-level talks to reinforce bilateral ties and confront shared concerns over regional security, including a forceful condemnation of recent attacks on Emirati infrastructure.

The two leaders centered their discussions on widening cooperation through the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), with attention on investment, renewable energy, technology, and infrastructure. Both said the relationship has the potential to open fresh economic opportunities and support long-term prosperity for Kenya and the United Arab Emirates alike.

Ruto again condemned terrorist attacks that have targeted civilians and infrastructure in the UAE and across the wider region. He described the strikes as a breach of national sovereignty and international law, warning that such assaults undermine stability in the region and threaten global maritime security.

The meeting also turned to the broader situation in the Middle East, where the leaders reviewed the far-reaching impact regional turmoil can have on the world economy.

Among those present were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, as well as ministers and senior officials from both delegations.
