In Chad, the second day of the debates on the National Inclusive Forum proposed by the government was held on Friday. While the discussions focused on state form and institutions, seats for opposition political parties that did not participate in the forum were briefly surrounded by police.

Second day debates focused on the structure of the state. For the participants, it is necessary to return to the basics of the administrative division, to restore institutions such as the Constitutional Council, the Economic and Social Council and the Court of Auditors, which is the result of Chad’s international obligations.

Some speakers called for the re-establishment of the post of Prime Minister, others for the creation of a Vice-Presidency.

Debates that were obscured at the end of the day by the siege of the police on the premises of two opposition parties, UNDRde Saleh Kebzabo and Transformateurs de Succès Masra.

“A shoe polish of democracy”

For Succès Masra, who asked to participate in the forum but was not accredited, the power showed its true face: “The Transformers meet every day to divert the topics that have been discussed and to do disadvantages. -Suggestions, he explains. Police came to encircle Transformers headquarters: what could be more democratic than conducting the Chadians dialogue? Than to hear them about their suggestions? Should it give rise to this kind of intimidation? This shows that here we have a kind of shoe polish for democracy on the same old shoe of the dictatorship … “

Today’s topic has not been evacuated, while there are still four topics to be discussed within the framework of this meeting, which assesses the new republic that is in place since 2018. The forum is due to close its work this Saturday.
