Liverpool’s move for Jarrod Bowen is very meaningful
It would be very easy for Liverpool fans to dismiss speculation about linking their club to a move for West Ham Jarrod Bowen.
The Reds have been linked with some top-class forwards in recent times, with Kylian Mbappe and Jadon Sancho both taking turns to become the protagonists of Liverpool fans’ desperate cries for a statement signed this summer.

Given the completely unrealistic rumors that credited the Reds with a move for Mbappe and Sancho, Jurgen Klopp’s quest for a player who less than 18 months ago traded in the championship could be seen as something overwhelming – but it does not have to be.
Let’s not forget, Bowen’s former club Hull City have developed an incredible skill in picking up quality players for the cheap before reselling them, with Manchester United’s Harry Maguire and Liverpool’s own Andy Robertson spending time at MKM Stadium.
It is also worth mentioning that Bowen’s time in Hull saw him regularly tear down championship defense during the three seasons he was a fixture in the first team, with the edge leading scoring a very impressive 52 goals in 117 other levels.
The need to attack reinforcements at Anfield this summer is clear, with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino’s poor form for the majority of the 2020/21 campaign costing them almost their lucrative place in the Champions League – say what you like about their injured tormented defense, it was their front line that almost cost them.
Bowen has proven in his short time at West Ham that he has an eye for goals to score at the top level, and climbs under the radar a bit last season with eight league goals in 30 starts.
Hammer’s forwards represent exactly the type of profile Liverpool were looking for when signing a player; he is young, has plenty of room for development and can be resold at a profit in the coming years if needed, and the success of Diogo Jota since he moved to Anfield – a player with a similar goal-to-play relationship as Bowen – should say he deserves a chance.
The former Hull man would represent a solid back-up for the Red front line next season and, given the time to settle in a club the size of Liverpool, he could be ready to step into the club’s shooting range as they eventually move on.
Although it is good and good to look at a player’s goal scoring record and immediately exclaim “yes, he scores for us”, we know of course that football is much more complex than that.
There would of course be question marks over Bowen’s ability to handle the increased pressure that comes with pulling on a Liverpool shirt, but the West Ham man has not yet been disappointed in any of the big leaps he has taken since graduating from the former National League. -outfit Hereford Uniteds academy.
Not only that, his style of play is perfect for a team managed by Klopp. The 24-year-old was one of West Ham’s most important men last season when David Moyes seemed to impress on a fast, high-pressure system on his side – something Klopp is known for.
Bowen is not the type of winger who will look to stay out of the game and stretch the pitch, instead he will run into the box when his side is in possession on the opposite side of the pitch – an instinct that will be the key. if he is to make an impression on Liverpool’s front line.

We will not sit here and try to say that Bowen is a better player than Mohamed Salah – because that is obviously not true – but the Reds desperately need to strengthen their attacking arsenal this summer and he would be a good addition to the squad.
With West Ham paying as much as £ 25m for their services, he will not be cheap, but Liverpool have developed a habit of buying players whose value doubles in just a few seasons at Anfield, and Bowen may well be their next recruiting team. great Success.
