Charlie Adam’s response to old Sergio Aguero comparison is wonderful Twitter content

As (Wayne) Rooney Mara’s character told us in the 2010 film The Social Network, “The Internet is not written in pencil, it is written in ink.”

Unfortunately for Daily Mail’s Oliver Holt, this means that his prediction that Liverpool’s acquisition of Charlie Adam could be a better deal than Manchester City’s signing of Sergio Aguero back in 2011 … still remains.

Aguero will be the highest profile signing of the summer so far if that happens. Still think Charlie Adam to Liverpool may be the best

A bold statement.

Ten years later, Aguero City, as the Premier League’s leading foreign goal scorer of all time, leaves and ends up close to 200 goals in his ten years in England. Adam was charged by Liverpool after just one season.

With Aguero announcing the end of his time at City, Holt’s infamous tweet reappears and turns to Adam, who seems to find it as entertaining as the rest of football Twitter.

“I think he made it in the end,” wrote the Scottish midfielder, followed by two laughing emojis.

I think he managed in the end ??. What a player he has been for the city

Do not get it twisted, two goals and ten assists in 37 games for Liverpool (and some better performances for Stoke and Blackpool) is nothing to sneeze at, but it’s not really building-a-statue-outside-stadium good, is it?

Now playing in Scotland’s second tier with Dundee, the former midfielder Stoke and Blackpool were delighted to take part in some of the tributes that sent Aguero’s way after the news that the Argentine is about to leave City at the end of the season.

Barcelona were recently named favorites to sign Aguero when his contract with City expires. New president Joan Laporta has long been keen to land the Argentine, whose arrival he hopes will help persuade Lionel Messi to stay.

There are still rumors of interest from the likes of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, but all current signs suggest that Aguero may line up at Camp Nou next season.
