China admonishes North Western of Somalia for establishing relations with Taiwan

In a strong rebuke, China criticizes North Western of Somalia for developing ties with Taiwan, calling it a direct attack on China’s territorial integrity. North Western of Somalia, not internationally recognized as a sovereign state, has been capitalizing on Taiwan’s situation by even opening a consulate in the region. China, through its embassy in Mogadishu, insists on recognizing Somalia as one country and asserts that North Western of Somalia is still part of Somalia’s territory despite Hargeisa’s claims. The international community’s adherence to the one-China principle is praised by China, emphasizing its commitment to a unified state. The Chinese embassy also reiterates its support for Somalia’s government as the sole legitimate representation of the country, including North Western of Somalia. Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs backs the one-China policy, warning against any actions that could jeopardize Beijing’s territorial integrity. Additionally, concerns were raised over a controversial agreement between North Western of Somalia and Ethiopia, exchanging land for recognition, causing global outrage.
