A Monrovia court has rejected a request to move former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor from police custody to either home confinement or a medical facility, despite arguments from her lawyers about her age, medical history and reported hospitalization while detained.
Howard-Taylor, 63, was stopped from traveling and taken to national police headquarters, where authorities formally charged her over major drug seizures. Her legal representatives and political allies have denied the allegations.
