How much will Borussia Dortmund sell Erling Haaland for?

Borussia Dortmund have put a premium price tag on the head of superstar striker Erling Haaland, who is in demand by Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid this summer, which replicates the same tough stance that the Bundesliga took over Jadon Sancho last year.

Haaland has shown so far in 2020/21 that he is not a seasonal marvel by scoring 33 goals in 31 games over all competitions, which takes his number for both Dortmund and Red Bull Salzburg since the beginning of last season to a phenomenal 77. He will not be even 21 until July.

Manchester City is a tempting perspective, but Danny Ings must be faithful to Southampton

Manchester City are believed to be interested in signing Danny Ings, but the striker has a good thing in Southampton and should think twice before moving.

The current production combined with his long-term potential to be the best player in the world in the near future has made Norwegian one of the hottest raw materials in world football, even in a depressed transfer market that knows the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

90min has previously revealed that Manchester City consider themselves favorites to write Haaland, with a feeling among his suitors that he is already ready to move on from Dortmund. City prioritize a striker, even above a pursuit of Lionel Messi, but there is fierce competition.

Although Chelsea invested over £ 120 million in Timo Werner and Kai Havertz alone last summer, they are also keen on Haaland and sources have confirmed they have a deal ready to offer him.

Manchester United tried to get Haaland before he chose Dortmund and their interest in the kid has been revived in a big way in recent weeks. Real Madrid have also caught his eye when planning how to rebuild a new squad at the Bernabeu.

Haaland has a release clause of 75 million euros which is active from 2022 | Lars Baron / Getty Images

Haaland has a release clause in his Dortmund contract which is estimated at 75 million euros (64.2 million pounds). But the limited figure will not become active until the summer of 2022, which means that there is no ceiling on what Dortmund can demand until that time.

According to ESPN, Dortmund has set Haaland’s price tag this summer at 180 million euros (154 million pounds). That would match the deal that took Kylian Mbappe from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain 2018, which is still the second most expensive transfer in history behind just Neymar to PSG 2017.

Asking for a prize to ward off freers now is one way Dortmund can make him stay another season, for a departure when the € 75 million clause really comes into play is almost inevitable.

It seems to be a repetition of the same determined stance that Dortmund took over Jadon Sancho last summer when they quoted 120 million euros for Manchester United and refused to compromise.

Dortmund’s financial situation after a difficult year due to the coronavirus pandemic has been used to suggest that they may have little choice to sell at least one big name player this summer. But it was rumored in Germany last month that if that had to be the case, they would prefer Sancho to be sacrificed to keep their accounts healthy so that they can keep Haaland.
