Togo’s Legislative and Regional Elections: A Historic Vote
More than four million Togolese voters are heading to the polls on Monday, April 29 for legislative and regional elections. Postponed several times, this double ballot is taking place as a new Constitution passed by outgoing MPs on April 19 transitions Togo from a presidential to a parliamentary system. Will the elections become a referendum for or against the new text? That's the hope of the opposition, which is back in the race after boycotting the 2018 legislative elections.
