The meeting took place at Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and brought together senior officials, engineers and technical advisers from both countries.
The discussions centered on broadening infrastructure cooperation, speeding up Somalia’s reconstruction drive, expanding modern housing initiatives and raising standards in urban planning and construction oversight.
Uraloglu reiterated Turkey’s long-standing backing for Somalia’s reconstruction and development efforts, with particular emphasis on transport infrastructure and the transfer of technical skills.
Yusuf said Somalia is looking to draw on Turkey’s engineering know-how, institutional experience and record of delivering major infrastructure projects.
The Somali minister also called for targeted training programs for Somali engineers and public works personnel, arguing that stronger local technical capacity will be vital as the country increases investment in roads, housing and urban infrastructure.
Following the talks, Yusuf visited a number of Turkish government facilities connected to transport planning and infrastructure management. He was welcomed by the director general of Turkey’s State Highways Authority, who briefed him on the operation of national road corridors and large-scale highway systems.
Yusuf also toured highway projects built through public-private partnerships, in which private firms finance, construct and maintain public roads and recoup expenses through electronic toll systems.
The Somali delegation additionally inspected a state vehicle maintenance and fleet management facility to examine logistics systems, equipment handling and asset lifecycle procedures.
Turkey has remained among Somalia’s closest development partners, investing in infrastructure, education, health and security cooperation.
