According to the Saudi Press Agency, the discussions covered cooperation between Somalia and Saudi Arabia and explored ways to deepen relations between the two countries.

El-Khereiji was in Uganda to represent Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the inauguration of President Yoweri Museveni. Museveni was sworn in Tuesday for a seventh term, extending his presidency into a fifth decade in power.

The encounter took place as Somalia continues to push for broader regional and international backing on security, investment and development. Saudi Arabia remains a key political and economic partner for Somalia, with the two sides maintaining close contact through the Arab League, Islamic cooperation forums and regional security channels.

El-Khereiji has served as Saudi Arabia’s deputy foreign minister since 2020.

Neither government immediately disclosed whether the meeting produced any agreements.
