Officials said close to 40,000 students from the federal member states and the Banadir region are set to take part in this year’s tests.
Education officials said the national exams are a key part of efforts to strengthen Somalia’s education system and create a unified standard for assessing student performance across the country.
The ministry said 38,471 students sat for the national secondary school examinations last year.
It also said eighth-grade examinations for primary schools in the Banadir region will take place from June 15 to 18.
The testing schedule comes as Somalia continues to rebuild and standardize its education sector after decades of conflict weakened state institutions and left access to schooling uneven in many areas.
