Australia’s captain, Sam Kerr, will not be able to attend the Olympic Games in Paris because she did not recover from a serious knee injury in time to compete in the team’s upcoming friendly matches. The talented forward sustained the injury during a training camp in January, putting her participation in jeopardy. Kerr has represented the Matildas in previous Olympic Games and various other international tournaments, showcasing her skills on the field. Unfortunately, Football Australia has confirmed that both Amy Sayer and Sam Kerr will miss the Olympic tournament due to long-term injuries. Kerr, who holds Australia’s scoring record, had a limited season in the Women’s Super League due to her injury. She will now focus on her rehabilitation for future events.
