MLS and Adidas debut the new LA-inspired All-Star jersey

In collaboration with Adidas, Major League Soccer launched the new All-Star Game jersey on Tuesday. The latest equipment celebrates Los Angeles, the city that will host the 2021 match on August 25 at the Banc of California Stadium with MLS vs. Liga MX.

The black player jersey is intended to highlight the impact Los Angeles has on the global game and the passionate culture of local football. It has reflective details that magnify the black and gold background inspired by Hollywood glamor.

The league described the jersey as “inspired by the Art Deco architecture of Los Angeles, designed by adidas Aeroready performance fabric consisting of stars and maple leaves representing the American and Canadian clubs in MLS”.

The right sleeve of the shirt will have the custom All-Star patch, with the number LA21. Back-pitch will include staples in Los Angeles, such as stars, ocean waves and highways to further capture the city’s unique spirit in the shirt.

With more than a year to go, the two rival leagues will finally face each other for the first time in history in a new cross-border format. Liga announced the match in early June and marked the first of many future collaborations with the Mexican Football League. The two leagues have long been involved in each other through Concacaf tournaments such as the Campeones Cup and the Leagues Cup, but never managed an independent match between the leagues until now.

Three-time Major League Soccer Coach of the Year Bob Bradley will lead the American League side. Bradley has a history with the host city, having inspired LAFC to win by lifting the Supporters Shield while the team also recorded a new MLS points record for the regular season.

While Liga MX has not yet revealed its head coach for the match, league officials have expressed their excitement and support.
