The midfielder has impressed Sassuolo since joining the club, initially on loan in 2018. The 2020/21 campaign was his best ever with his displays giving him a regular place in Italy’s team.

Since making his debut for the Azzurri, he has won 15 internationals. This includes five appearances in Italy’s Euro 2020 campaign, where Locatelli enjoys a 24-minute cameo in the final.

His performance in the tournament increased his stock and Juventus have faced competition from Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund for his signing this summer.

They have now made the deal, however, with the club confirming Locatelli’s arrival. He has agreed to a two-year loan with a purchase obligation of 35 million euros, and the deal is valid until 2026.

The end of their club statement reads: “In short, the numbers, despite his young age, tell of a boy with fantastic talent and the personality of a veteran. About someone who has already made his mark. And that he will now continue to do so in Black and White of Juventus.

“Welcome, Loca!”

He joins a group of midfielders that already includes Aaron Ramsey, Arthur Melo, Rodrigo Bentancur, Weston McKennie and Adrien Rabiot. Danilo has also been deployed there before, while youngsters Hans Nicolussi Caviglia and Nicolo Fagioli will also hope to get into the first team’s setup.
