Manchester United faces FA Cup final showdown without key defender Harry Maguire

Manchester United’s Harry Maguire is out for the FA Cup final. But he should be ready for England’s Euro 2024.

Manager Erik ten Hag confirmed Maguire’s absence from the final against Manchester City. Maguire has been dealing with a muscle injury since May. Recovery was expected to take about three weeks.

It was always a long shot for Maguire to play in the final at Wembley Stadium. However, he was named in England’s preliminary Euro 2024 squad.

Ten Hag stated that Maguire will miss the final. Lindelof, Mount, and Martial are in contention for the game.

Maguire’s absence doesn’t affect his chances for the Euros. Fellow defenders Martinez and Varane are expected to play. Varane is leaving United after the final.

United has faced a difficult season, losing 19 games and conceding 84 goals. Ten Hag’s future as manager has been questioned.

Reports suggest Ipswich Town’s McKenna is a potential target. Despite the uncertainty, Ten Hag remains focused on winning the FA Cup.

He emphasized the importance of trophies and the opportunity to win a second one in as many seasons.
