Kacper Kozlowski will be the youngest Euro player ever

The record for the youngest player ever to take part in the European Championships has been broken for the second time this tournament, after Polish star Kacper Kozlowski, 17 years, eight months and three days, went to the field on Saturday night.

The teenager came in as a substitute in the 55th minute for Biało-czerwoni, which helped his nation win its first point of the competition with a famous 1-1 draw against Spain.

And with that, Kozlowski entered the tournament’s history books and became the youngest player to ever play in the European Championships.

At 17 years and eight months, the Pogoń Szczecin star comfortably holds the record, which had already been broken earlier in the competition by England Wonderkid Jude Bellingham. The Borussia Dortmund star, 17 years and 345 days old, was introduced as a late replacement in the Three Lions’ 1-0 victory over Croatia on 13 June and claimed the record for himself.

Kozlowski is the new owner of the specific title, as he continues to attract attention from all over Europe. The teenager has been described as the “Polish Pogba” for his stylish yet authoritative presence in midfield and he is believed to be on Manchester United’s radar.

He hopes to have a greater impact at Euro 2020, as Poland’s points earned against Spain leave them with a cry to reach the knockout stage. They are currently at the bottom of the group with only one point, but thanks to the possibility that three teams qualify from group E, there is still a lot to play for in their last clash with Sweden.

Poland meets Sweden on Wednesday, in a decisive match.

Kozlowski is also part of 90min’s Our 21’s series and selects the most promising and exciting young people at Euro 2020 this summer.
