England’s Premier Goalkeeper Earps Departs Manchester United for an Exciting Transfer to PSG

Manchester United formally announced Mary Earps’ exit, with the stopper poised to ink a deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

The buzz early this week had hinted that Earps, acclaimed as FIFA’s Best goalkeeper in the successive years 2022 and 2023, would peg it off to PSG following her stint at United.

Since donning the United jersey in 2019, Earps has been instrumental in catapulting the club to the top tiers of women’s football. They snagged their inaugural trophy – the women’s FA Cup, drubbing Tottenham this May.

Albeit reaching the pinnacle of her form, the 31-year-old declined a fresh contract from United, choosing instead to venture to France.

The club confirmed her departure this Saturday.

Earps’ farewell marks the third high-profile United exit this off-season, succeeding captain Katie Zelem and forward Lucia Garcia.

During her tenure, Earps clocked 125 caps across all competitions for United.

In the last WSL season, she guarded the net in all 22 matches, pulling off 60 saves and achieving a save success rate of 65.2%.

For the 2023-24 season, Earps let 30 go past her, aligning closely with an expected goals on target (xGoT) tally of 30.6, excluding own goals.
