Somali Clans Forge Landmark Pact to End Violent Disputes in Mudug Region

Galkacyo (AX) – On Saturday, two Somali clans hashed out a tentative peace deal to halt recent skirmishes in Mudug, thanks to a delegation from Northeastern State and Galmudug.

Clashes in Jiicboor, Mudug’s west, led to roughly 30 deaths and over 50 injuries, according to folks on the ground.

The delegation visited the battleground, held separate sit-downs with each faction to stop the fracas, and set up formal gatherings to tackle underlying issues.

News is, they persuaded both parties to lay down arms and pull back their troops.

The brawl featured gunmen from the Sa’ad and Lelakase sub-clans, clashing in a rural stretch between Goldogob and Saah Qurun.
