Chelsea broadcast news: interest in Presnel Kimpembe

European champions Chelsea have reportedly shown interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s central defender Presnel Kimpembe, who could consider his future after Sergio Ramos’ arrival in the French capital.

The former Real Madrid captain’s introduction to the side has made Kimpembe think about his role in the squad. In recent years, the home-grown defender has become a key figure both on and off the pitch for PSG and was even awarded the title of vice-captain.

However, the arrival of such a great personality as Ramos has given Kimpembe doubt and according to L’Equipe (via Get French Football News), his former boss Thomas Tuchel is interested in eventually taking him to Stamford Bridge.

However, the interest is all that exists right now. There are a number of factors that make this transfer difficult. Kimpembe’s current contract with PSG takes him all the way to 2024 with the club, while he is still very fond of his boys’ club, which he has been with since the age of ten and won 19 awards with.

As a result, the 25-year-old will take his time and see how his situation at PSG changes due to the new addition Ramos. After Thiago Silva’s departure last summer, Kimpembe was an excellent figure for the side and made 40 appearances over all competitions during the 2020/21 season – despite an injury halfway through the campaign – and played a key role in Mauricio Pochettino’s side development to the Champions League semi-finals.

In addition, Tuchel would probably need to sell to get the World Cup winner to Chelsea, especially when it comes to other deals.

The Blues are still looking for a prolific shooter and are reportedly making a huge £ 135 million bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland to test the waters, while contacting Robert Lewandowski’s agent to discuss a potential switch.

However, it has already expired. Victor Moses and Fikayo Tomori left the club for a fee of £ 4m and £ 24m earlier in the window, while Olivier Giroud has recently left for Milan in a £ 2m deal, Marc Guehi has gone to Crystal Palace for at least a reported £ 18m, and starlet Lewis Bate have joined Leeds for what is believed to be £ 1.5m.
