Bologna Appoints Motta’s Successor: A New Chapter in Italian Football

Bologna has wrapped up their hunt for Thiago Motta’s successor, sealing the deal with previous Fiorentina helmsman Vincenzo Italiano on a biennial contract.

Vincenzo Italiano, now at the helm, inked a two-year pact with the Rossoblu. They are gearing up for their Champions League campaign after clinching fifth in Serie A.

Post his tenure’s climax with Fiorentina in the 2023-24 season, the 46-year-old strategized La Viola’s route to consecutive Europa League Conference finals during a fruitful three-year tenure.

Nonetheless, Florence’s squad felt the sting of defeat twice under his guidance; once with West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen netting a buzzer-beater in 2023 and then Ayoub El Kaabi securing a win for Olympiacos in overtime the following year.

The year before, Italiano piloted Fiorentina to the Coppa Italia finale, but Inter Milan snagged the victory.

Having previously catapulted Trapani and Spezia up the ranks, Italiano ventures into Stadio Renato Dall’Ara to take Motta’s place. Rumor has it, Motta is poised to succeed Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus.
