Andreas Pereira was to join Flamengo

Andreas Pereira will go to Flamengo on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.

Pereira joined the club from PSV Eindhoven all the way back in 2012 and has since made 75 appearances and managed four goals and five assists in that time.

He has had three loan spells during his Red Devils career, most recently fighting at Lazio last season.

Pereira will retire temporarily this term, according to various reports. This time he flies to Brazil, with Flamengo close to agreeing a deal for his services. They won the Brazilian Serie A last year but stutter this time and lose five of their first 14 matches.

Pereira signed from United for the season in some style recently and made a thunderous volley in a friendly draw against Brentford. He regularly presented for Ole Gunnar Solskjær during the 2019/20 season and made a total of 25 matches.

However, he has since slipped down the order dramatically and it now seems almost certain that he will leave the club when his contract expires in 2023, if not earlier. Since he did not play at all last season, United do not need to bring in a replacement, but it can help them when they pursue a midfielder for the remaining days of the transfer window.

The Red Devils have had a fruitful transfer window so far, taking in the long-term goal of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and finalizing a price deal for Raphael Varane. In addition, Tom Heaton has been recruited to increase the depth of the goalkeeper.

However, there have been no high-profile sales, with the only expenses being a series of loan transactions. Tahith Chong has joined Birmingham City for the season, Facundo Pellistri has signed for Alaves and Axel Tuanzebe returned to Aston Villa.
